The G Spot - Fact or Fiction?
Everyone has heard how the elusive G spot is a magical button to get a woman to orgasm. But how much of that is true? Possibly, you’ve heard rumors of the G spot being a myth. Let’s sort out what’s real and what isn’t behind all the G spot talk!
What’s the G spot?
The G spot is supposedly an area inside the vagina about an inch inside the vaginal opening. According to Planned Parenthood, it’s against the upper vaginal wall near the belly button. It’s sensitive and can swell during arousal. To the touch, it feels rougher or bumpy compared to the surrounding areas.
Is it real?
Probably not! Recent studies have actually found that there is no evidence to support that the G spot exists. A 2017 study tried to find the G spot but wasn’t able to find anything.
Naturally, the idea that the G spot is a magic button for every woman is also false! An astonishing 82% of men think that women do have this magic button.
While some women may enjoy stimulation to the area where the G spot would be, others either don’t or don’t even notice a difference in sensation. Only about 10% of women can ejaculate when that area is stimulated. You may know the common fact that the majority of women need clitoris stimulation to orgasm. That’s basically what the fact says - that only around that small percentage of women can orgasm from vaginal penetration.
Why is the G spot myth so popular?
Back in the 80s, everyone including scientists began reporting the G spot as a mysterious miracle. Cosmo would instruct women on how to find it (to little success). And the industry behind the G spot was doing very, very well. Making a lot of money through a lot of sex toys, condoms, and other products. Even the dictionary was fooled into including the G spot’s definition.
Now, it becomes more important than ever to help dispel the myth. 11% of women avoided sex because they couldn’t find their G spot, and an overwhelming 44% felt frustration trying to locate it. All of this turmoil and stress is caused by a made-up body part. It’s insane that 4 decades later, we still haven’t cleared up all the confusion behind it.
Ultimately, do what feels right for you. If you do enjoy the stimulation from where the G spot should be, then, by all means, use it to your full advantage. If you can’t find pleasure from it, then take some weight off your shoulders knowing that it probably isn’t there at all.
